vs
Secretary's
Message - December 31 1.) This is the final game of the season! Looks like we've been playing the spoilers for the past few weeks,
and have put together a rather encouraging end to the 2009 season. I'm happy to say, we've made mince meat of our greatest
foe, and have almost ruled them out from contention. Here's the last team we face, and if we win, they're done...excited
eh? 2.) I know that not everyone is an Ohio State fan, but they are playing tomorrow... 3.) Here's hoping that your holiday season was wonderful, and that your 2010 is full of health, wealth and
happiness!!

TO
MY FELLOW PORTLAND BROWNS BACKERS
Hello, all, and a very happy holiday season to you.
The last three weeks have been a GREAT time to watch the Browns. Yes, it has been a tough, tough year
to be a Browns fan. Don't I know it.
BUT - we have had a good crowd at the games, have seen a number of new faces, and it felt darn good to cheer
again.
Sunday is our season-ender. If you can, make it to the game at The Blitz.
You won't be sorry.
And that's all I'm sayin'....
Hope to see you there!
GO BROWNS! BEAT THE JAGUARS!!

Secretary's Message - November 20
1.) So not only
is Josh Cribbs a record breaking player, he also has a heart of gold. I had no idea how good of guy he truly is. It's just so terrible that the Gravens laid that hit on him last
Monday. 2.) So this week, we play the Cryions. Here's some great analysis of the game. 3.) And the running joke all week on ESPN is why we should watch the game...here's a list: Browns vs. Lions: -
At least Bud Adams won't be there - It beats watching "Jon & Kate +8" Marathons with your wife - The loser gets
Toledo - Because it's too cold to watch the grass grow - The game to decide the team of the decade...the decade of the
1950s - Because its football at its most offensive - What else are you going to do on a Sunday at 1pm...read? 4.)
From Mike & Mike, top 8 reasons to actually see the game:
8. It promises
to be more disgusting than the Dr. Oz show 7. Come early, you get a free Bengals hat 6. You can buy raffle tickets...first
prize, you get to leave 5. Beer prices are knocked down to only $10 for this game 4. Mangini still hasn't decided on
the starting QB...it might just be YOU! 3. Free ADD testing. If you're paying attention, you don't have it 2.
Kanye West promises to Interrupt the game 1. They're showing other games on the jumbo tron
5.) I for one was
disgusted with Last Monday's performance. I think I got in trouble for yelling too loud at my local Old Chicago...people
kept moving away from me. That's what I get for being a Browns fan I guess.

Secretary's Message - Week 7
1.) HEY! WE DIDN'T LOSE LAST WEEKEND!!! WHO'DA THUNK IT...wait...
2.) And so the QB yo-yo/merry-go-round/vicious-cycle continues!! An angry looking Mangini now wants BQ to start on Monday...so expect a lot of short passes I guess.
3.) Don't forget, there's going to be a protest this Monday night. So look for the empty seats!
A snippet of #10: Finally, here's a unique idea: Pretend the Browns are an actual NFL team with actual
professionals on the roster. Treat them that way, and maybe, just maybe, they will play that way.
My prediction for the remainder of 2009...2-6...ugh! 5.) Here's a funny Lyric alteration that Michael Silver
put together for the Browns: Earlier this month, Browns halfback Jamal Lewis(notes) said he planned to retire after this season, and the team’s 1-7 record isn’t the only source of his misery. On
Thursday Lewis took Mangini to task for overworking his players, a day after saying he’d consider himself “ a Raven, of course” after his 10-year career is complete. As Lewis complained, “I’m so tired of it,” I could’ve
sworn I heard The Edge hammering away in the background. Here’s an expanded version of Lewis’ perspective, to
the tune of the U2 classic “ Sunday Bloody Sunday.”
I can’t believe the news today HR employee came Led our GM away
How long How long must we sing this song? How long, how long Monday night We’ll
get booed on Monday night
Water bottles costing dudes 2 G’s Dawg Pound guys are meeting with Randy A quarterbackin’
cattle call Incentives gone so Now the backup will get the ball
Sunday, Bloody Sunday Sunday, Bloody Sunday Sunday, Bloody Sunday
And the turmoil’s just begun Seven games lost, will we win more than one? The trench
is dug within our hearts And now Mike Holmgren’s gonna tear this thing apart
Sunday, Bloody Sunday Sunday, Bloody Sunday
How long How long must we sing this song? How long, how long Monday night We’ll
get booed on Monday night That’s right
Sunday, Bloody Sunday Sunday, Bloody Sunday
Wipe the tears from your eyes Wipe your tears away Oh, wipe your tears away Oh, wipe your
tears away (Sunday, Bloody Sunday) Oh, pay Josh Cribbs? No way (Sunday, Bloody Sunday)
Sunday, Bloody Sunday (Sunday, Bloody Sunday) Sunday, Bloody Sunday (Sunday, Bloody Sunday)
And it’s true we are immune Weekend at Bernie’s – it’s Randy’s reality Monday
night millions will see How much we stink and laugh at Mangini
(Sunday, Bloody Sunday)
This franchise is a total wreck Dare say our fans miss Belichick Oh
Sunday Bloody Sunday Sunday Bloody Sunday
Reminder: We won't be doing a raffle this week.

Secretary's Message - Week 7
3.) Well, at least Mangini feels our pain. Whatever dude...you make millions a year, and we pay your salary with our tears.
“We’re tired of losing,” the 39-year-old Randall said. “We’re tired of the
booing, of seeing fans leave in the fourth quarter. There are fans who have had tickets for 30 years who are turning their
seats in because they can’t take it anymore. So many fans are fed up.”
That's like saying:
- Europe would have been worse off without WWII
- "Happy Days" would have been worse off without Fonzie jumping the Shark
6.) This week, we get Steve Heiden back.
7.) Oh yeah, looks like Joe Thomas is our best player. He's leading the league in the number of allowed
sacks (2).
Don't Boycott the Blitz as we face Da Bears.

Enough! Fed-up Browns Fans Planning Protest
Associated Press
BEREA, Ohio -- One of the most loyal Dawg Pounders is done barking about the sad state
of his beloved Cleveland Browns. It's time to bite.
Lifelong Browns fan and season-ticket holder Mike Randall, aka "Dawg Pound Mike," is
encouraging other Cleveland fans to stay away from their seats for the opening kickoff of the Browns' Nov. 16 home game against
Baltimore.
Sickened by the nearly constant losing since the NFL team's return in 1999, Randall
hopes the sight of empty seats for the start of the nationally televised Monday night game will send a loud message to owner
Randy Lerner and club officials that fans have had enough.
"We're tired of losing," the 39-year-old Randall said. "We're tired of the booing, of
seeing fans leave in the fourth quarter. There are fans who have had tickets for 30 years who are turning their seats in because
they can't take it anymore. So many fans are fed up."
Randall and his friend, Tony Schafer, decided to go ahead with plans for the protest
following last Sunday's 31-3 loss to the Green Bay Packers. As they walked out of the stadium, they heard fans grumbling about
how they're wasting their Sundays and money.
Their hope is that fans stay outside the stadium, on concourses or in the restrooms
for the start of the game.
The Akron Beacon-Journal first reported the protest, which Randall and Schafer announced
on the Web site www.mobiledawg.com.
"We don't want to see fans with bags on their heads or booing," Randall said. "We love
the Browns and will do anything to support them. But we're not being heard. Our goal is to say to the Browns' organization,
'Hey, listen to your fans."
Under first-year coach Eric Mangini, the Browns are 1-6 this season and have scored
four offensive touchdowns in 81 possessions. Cleveland's defense is the league's worst.
Since coming back as an expansion team 10 years ago, the Browns are 55-113 with one
playoff appearance and appear to be on their way to their eighth season of double-digit losses since '99.
Lerner is aware of the response and said in an e-mail that he understand the fans' frustration.
"On the grounds of frustration and irritation with performance, then that's the medicine
I [we] are going to take, and I accept that," he said. "The goal this year was to rebuild the culture at the Browns. We felt
at the end of last year that we lacked any overall philosophy, approach or direction regarding recruiting, drafting, coaching,
preparation or training. As a result, each season was feeling like starting over and 4-12 following 10-6 felt painfully not
all that surprising."
Lerner added the team remains open to feedback and support to help the Browns improve.
"We won't become entrenched or stubborn and despite my allergy to be more conspicuous,
I do remain eager to seek help and guidance from any and all corners," he said.
Randall, who sits in the front row of the Dawg Pound, the notoriously rowdy bleacher
section, doesn't know where to assess blame for the Browns' misery. He has met Lerner and appreciates the ultra-private owner's
attempts to turn the franchise around. He knows Mangini needs time, and Randall wishes general manager George Kokinis would
let fans in on the team's intentions.
"We have no one who talks to the fans," he said. "Randy isn't out front. The GM is invisible
and Mangini has said this was going to be a process and that things would improve. Well, nothing has improved."
Randall said there is no energy in the crowd at home games and that fans are still being
told to sit down in their seats or risk ejection. He has spoken to Browns officials about reconnecting to the team's past,
but has met mostly with resistance.
"There's nothing in the stadium that even shows the eight championships we did win,"
he said. "This team has lost generations of fans."
During last week's game, Randall said a young fan approached him and asked, "Will we
ever win?"
Lerner recently brought in former quarterback Bernie Kosar to serve as a consultant
to the team. Although Kosar's role with the team has not been clearly defined, Randall sees his addition as a positive.
"I love it," Randall said. "Bernie is an offensive mastermind and I think Randy is seeing
we need to bring some of the former guys back. It's a good first step."
When Art Modell took his NFL franchise to Baltimore in 1995, Browns fans fought to get
their team back. Randall was one of the fans who helped jam the league's fax machines and carried thousands of signatures
to meetings, hoping to get pro football back in Cleveland.
It worked, and Randall, who wears something shaded in Cleveland's brown and orange colors
every day, is hoping this protest helps the Browns get back to winning.
"We did this as a positive," he said. "We want to send a statement that the status quo
cannot go on."
Secretary's Message - Week 6
1.) So last week was difficult, for both
teams. The steelers looked weak through the 1st half, but pulled away in the 2nd. Regardless...this is all I got
to say...GO BROWNS! Big Ben is from Ohio, and they better recognize. 2.) Looks like the flu has hit the Browns hard.
We've got about 12 players out this week with flu-like symptoms. YAY! Let's add more to the fray! 3.) This week, we face a Packers team that has allowed a league high 25 sacks. Aaron Rodgers has become the glue handed indecisive pocket waiter we've been waiting for all season. I'm sure
we'll see some hard hitting this week. 4.) Here are some criticisms of how we handled the QB situation, and how Brady
Quinn never got a good shake. The article is pretty good. 5.) We've lost D'Qwell Jackson to a shoulder injury, our starting LB.

Secretary's Message - Week 5
1.) Last week, we pulled out a win! It wasn't pretty, but it works, right? 2.) Braylon caught a TD pass on MNF...i can smell the 2nd Round Draft pick! 3.) Well, we have yet another unhappy player...seems that Brady Quinn is unhappy as the clipboard holder. 4.) But in the exact same sentence, Brady and his agent are denying the claims Maybe if he took his house off the market, he might dispel any rumors. The Let's keep the win
column moving up! Come down to the Blitz and watch the Browns beat the Steelers!
Your humble Secretary, Stephen Udycz

Secretary's Message - Week 4
1.) Braylon is gone! Thank GOD!! I know it sounds bad, but he can't catch a pass to save his life!! Plus, we got a #2 receiver
and a starting linebacker from the Jets. Good luck to the wolverine and his LeBron bashing
2.) It must be noted that we are 0-4, BUT, the teams we have played against so far are
14-2. Guess we're not all THAT bad...right?
3.) We were tested against a Bengals team that beat the Steelers two weeks ago.
And held up well...unfortunately, we fell apart.
4.) Theres a lot of chatter on the wires and on radio shows about Mangini over the past few weeks. The Tribe skipper (Eric Wedge) was booted last week for a dismal season, and everyone in Cleveland is pushing the
same for Mangini. Supposedly, he has lost touch with his players, but the clubhouse is denying it.
5.) Instead of focusing on the coach, can we go higher up the chain please? Vote here to tell Randy Lerner he needs to sell the browns: We, the undersigned Cleveland Browns fans, ask Randy Lerner to do what is in the best interest of the Cleveland
Browns, Cleveland fans, and the city of Cleveland, and sell the Cleveland Browns.
The product on the field is unacceptable.
6.) With Derek Anderson starting again, I'm simply guessing that Scappoose will be rocking
this Sunday. Can't wait to see a comeback

Message - Week 3
1.) Another great turnout at the Blitz bar! Thanks to everyone for your support!
2.) So, we're playing our former selves, or the team we could have been if Art
Modell didn't suck, or the team we could have been had Michael White listened to anyone!! [Can you tell I'm still bitter about
it?!?!]
3.) Last week, we got trounced, and it's being called a gimmie for the Broncos? I didn't get to watch it, so I'm a bit out of the loop...did Mangenius just not prepare a good game plan? Or
did we just not execute?
5.) Welcome to our new PBB Officers:
Prez - Rick Green VPrez - Brenda Boykeni Treas/Secretary - Stephen Udycz Member
at Large - Mark Anderson
5.) A message is on our Website concerning email addresses that came from the brownsbackers.com
website. Please make sure to check it out: http://portlandbb.tripod.com
6.) We're re-instituting a halftime raffle during the game this week. Come
early, write down the total score at halftime and submit before kickoff, and you'll get your choice of a free beverage from
the house!!

Message
From President Rick Green
Hello, fellow Portland Browns Backers!!
Another great turnout for yesterdays game. Let's keep it up! Bring a Browns lovin'
friend next week.
First I want to thank John, Steve and Mark for their service to the club over the
last two years. Sometimes keeping the club together is like herding cats, and they did a great job. I'm sure I speak for all
of us in expressing our appreciation.
Also thanks to our webmaster Bill Wolfe II for his continued expertise in all things
IT. I'm still trying to figure out how to run my fax machine and without his help I'd be up a creek.
I am grateful to all who participated in the nomination/election process yesterday.
I look forward to helping the club expand from my post as President and I appreciate your votes of confidence. Please be sure
to get in communication with me about any ideas, concerns or other matters that relate to the club. My door (table?) is always
open for member input.
Welcome Steve back this year as Treasurer/Secretary (he does a primo job) as well
as two new officers -Brenda Bokenyi as Vice-President and Mark Anderson as Member-at-Large. It's very good to have them on
board as fellow officers.
One piece of business - the head office in Cleveland wants valid and deliverable e-mail
addresses from all members. Families can no longer be under one address as of October 2 at 5PM EST. Each family member/Brownsbacker
will need an individual address. As of March 2009 children under 14 can be enrolled by a parent in the Cleveland Browns Kids
Club at www.BrownsKidsClub.com. This is in accordance with Club rules regarding the collection of information from children under 14 years of age.
Also, the main office will cease using any addresses ending with "brownsbackers.org"
on October 2, so if you have one of those please get another address (hotmail, yahoo, gmail, aol, etc.) to Steve as soon as
you get it. Thanks.
We've got 2009 schedules and you can pick yours up at the Ravens game. Remember, this
Sunday at 10:AM ... we're playing in Baltimore...
GO BROWNS!! BEAT THE RAVENS!! LET'S BOOM THIS CLUB AND OUTGROW THE BLITZ!!
Thanks again, all. See you at the game.

1.) Thanks to everyone for coming out last week! What a turnout...let's keep
it going! Too bad it had to occur during a loss. 2.) This week, we're scheduled to play Horseface's old team...the
broncos. I still can't forget the drive, the fumble and the 80s. Man, I hope we beat these guys to a pulp! 3.)
Just to note, we're going to be looking for people to help out this year! We'll be holding elections this sunday, so
if you're interested in helping out, please let the leadership know. You'll see one of us with a Mic!

Secratary's Message - December 5
1.) What a hard game to watch last week. We're now down to Ken Dorsey as starting
QB. [Note: Ken Dorsey has not started an NFL game in 3 years] 2.) K2 is also out, and we've signed Bruce
Gradkowski as a backup. [Note: Joshua Cribbs has been taking snaps in practice...reminds me of the 80's when Brian Brennan
was our 4th backup] 3.) There's a theory floating around about Braylen dropping so many passes: He can't
see so good. - “I haven’t had my eyes checked, and I don’t think me dropping passes
has anything to do with my eyes,” he said. “I never had eye problems. I’ve always had great vision. We had
an eye test, and I could always see from afar and up close with both eyes.” So, what is it Braylen? 4.)
One important fact to note: we've improved on defense from the year previous in points allowed. We allowed 382 points
last season and have allowed only 247 this year. 5.) QB Brady Quinn had his broken right index finger
tip surgically repaired on Wednesday in Birmingham, Ala...Alabama? Whaaa?
Your humble Secretary, Stephen Udycz

Secratary's Message - November 21
1.) So, Brady got his first win this past monday. Not a bad game at first, but
it turned out to be luck for us when the Bills missed the last field goal. Interesting how the buzzword surrounding the Browns is 'quit.' 2.) Just a note: Phil Dawson is having a pro-bowl season. He is 22 of 24 on field-goal attempts. The 56-yarder he hit against the Bills to give the Browns
a 29-27 lead with 1:39 left was the longest of his career and the 11th game-winner of his career. History indicates his success
should continue Sunday. He is 14 of 14 on field-goal attempts vs. the Texans 3.) I'm glad we're playing the Texans
this week...the following players may not start: • RB Jerome Harrison (hamstring) • Jason Wright (neck)
• S Sean Jones has a sprained ankle and did not practice Wednesday.
• TE Kellen Winslow has a sprained right shoulder and did not practice. •
DE Corey Williams rested his sore shoulder and did not practice Wednesday.
• DT Shaun Rogers has a nagging shoulder problem and did not practice.
• CB Brandon McDonald was back practicing with the first team. He did not
start against the Bills.
• FB Lawrence Vickers did not practice because he is still hampered by a
sprained ankle.

No Formal Backer Activities for Monday, November 17
Just a note, Since this game is on national TV, there will NOT be a formal
event at the City. In other words, no raffle. BUT, the game will still be broadcast at the City, and a few of
us will be in attendance if you want to commisserate with fellow browns backers. Thanks! Stephen

Secratary's Message - November 14
1.) Now, I couldn't watch last Thursday's game, so I don't know who quit. All
I do know is that everyone is pointing fingers, which doesn't make for a good chemistry. 2.) Brady starts again
this week, and he had a pretty good game last week. Could have been better had Edwards not increased his lead on dropped
passes. 3.) This week, monday night game...again!!
We'll be down at the City...will you?
